Designers: Jacobus Johannes Pieter Oud
There lies the new world: spick and span and cheerful. From the air, the rational groundwork can be observed even more clearly. With this proposal for municipal housing in Rotterdam, architect J.J.P. Oud was also commenting on the use of closed urban blocks that was usual back then; he preferred the open-row layout. He oriented all the units favourably in relation to the sun, shielded from passing traffic and providing a view of a green internal garden. A standard dwelling for everyone.
