Scattered urbanisation

Is it possible to live miles high in the midst of nature and to leap over ditches in the city? The landscape architect Adriaan Geuze is renowned for the way in which he interweaves city and countryside. In this drawing, three high-rise towers challenge Vinkeveen’s old church tower. Surfers skim across the water, elks forage through nature, and occasionally a palm tree pops up. Sections of peat meadows around Vinkeveen stand under water. The islands are intended for residential construction, in which high-rise is also possible. Geuze’s ‘landscape city’ is a novel mental exercise in the interweaving of city and countryside.
