Rijksmuseum

This is the high point of Dutch culture, and everyone can simply walk in. 

As Cuypers is drawing this image the museum is still to be constructed, but you can already feel the urge to stroll through the museum galleries and undergo the spatial experience of the interior. The building itself is an ode to Dutch history, thanks to the vaulting, the neo-Gothic windows and the medieval towers, making this temple of national culture into one of the principal works by Cuypers. It was not intended to impress, but as a public lesson in Dutch history.
