Vipcity / The Unadapted City

Breaking away from the rigid layout of cities is a central theme in Deleu’s work. He proposes a city that is extremely flexible. This sculpture of white plastic presents a city like a meandering ribbon. This urban ribbon has several levels, with homes, offices, shops, a cycle track and an aerial tramway. Each building is so ‘unadapted’ that it can accommodate any function. A cinema can, for example, easily be transformed into a mushroom nursery. Deleu gives ‘unadapted’ a light-hearted form, but he is also making a serious proposal for a city of the future.
